Cause4alarm is always interesting in promoting regulars to Staff Positions and here is a thread to help increase your chances in getting promoted. Getting admin at C4A is not going to be easy, as the process of getting noticed and promoted may take a couple of months or maybe a year. Patience is the key in order to get promoted.

The Directors at c4a are looking for mature, responsible and active members of the community who want to consistently contribute to c4a and help it become better every day. We are looking for members who are here to have fun, make new friends and help contribute in any way they can.

The next step from member is Junior Admin trial period, where you will be given access to a special and private forum and be able to voteban and votekick rulebreakers. Directors will evaluate your progression as an admin to decide if you will be promoted to Senior Staff Admin, which has even more server and forum access.

Members who are just looking to have admin access and power in our servers will not be considered for promotion.

Here are some useful guidelines and tips on how to increase your chances at becoming an admin:

  • Abiding by and Enforcing the Rules on our Servers and on our Forums. It is very important to be aware of all of our rules and read the general guidelines in what to do in different types of situations. Multiple warnings are a must and so is proof of the warnings and proof of the infractions. Proof can be in the form of Screenshots, Demos or Console logs.

  • Be Active on the Forums. It is very important for you to participate in forum discussions on a regular basis. The Directors will be able to notice you quickly and have a chance to judge your character and maturity level. This does not mean that the more you post the better chances you will get promoted. Please check the dates of the last post and make sure you aren't posting in 2+ month old threads.

  • Be Active on the Servers. Playing in our servers and abiding + enforcing the rules is the main job for an admin. We don't expect you to play 40 hours a week but we do expect you to play in our servers on a consistent basis. You must learn how to be responsible and mature when dealing with rule breakers in the servers. If there are no admins around take a nice, simple approach with dealing with troublemakers.

    • You must warn the player or players to stop breaking c4a rules. Example of simple warnings: No racism in c4a servers, No Teamkilling, Nade Glitching is not allowed. Multiple warnings for these types of infractions are encouraged.

    • Each warning and each infraction must be documented by screenshots and/or demos. In order to post a ban request, you must have proof of what is going on. Type 'status' in console and then type 'snapshot' to take a screenshot of all the STEAM IDs. This is mandatory.

    • How to deal with Hackers. Hackers do not have to be warned. It is best if you keep quiet and go into spectator mode to demo the cheater. Follow this link in order to learn about the two ways in which you can demo a player - http://www.cause4ala...1-ban-requests/

  • Check for admins. Always check for admins playing in one of our servers by using /admin and messaging them using CSAC (typing "!" before your message). Asking for help on IRC and in the shoutbox is encouraged as well.

  • Follow the rules for posting Ban Requests and Unban Requests. The guidelines and rules for posting in Ban/Unban Requests can be found here. You must follow the format and can attach your screenshots and demos in your post. If you are having trouble in doing so you can use http://imageshack.us/ to host pictures and http://mediafire.com to host demos. Only post in unban request threads if you are directly involved with the situation. You will be suspended from posting if you do not abide to this rule.

  • Idle our IRC channel. Read our IRC Tutorial and Guide in order to be able to Idle our IRC Channel. Idling our IRC channel goes a long way in helping getting you noticed.

  • Participate in Events and Help Populate Our Servers. Helping to set up events and participating in them is a great way to get involved with the community and have some fun. Cause4alarm usually runs a big tournament every month so make sure you try and join in on the fun and maybe make a team. Helping to populate servers, like our new Warcraft 3 Mod Server, will highly increase your chances at getting noticed by the Directors.

Participating in events like this one (http://www.cause4ala...aft-thursdays/) will go a long way in helping you get noticed for a promotion. It doesn't mean you'll automatically get one but it does increase your chances.
