4 vs 4 Volleyball Tournament Date: January 9, 2010

Deadline to Sign Up: January 2, 2010
**Open to all skill levels!**

::Official VB Tournament Format::

  • The tournament will be conducted on Saturday January 9th, 2010 starting at 12 p.m. (noon) PST/2 p.m. CST/3 p.m. EST
  • The tournament will be following a double-elimination schedule. All matches will be played on the map: vb_gym_final
  • All preliminary matches will be played for 20 rounds, win by 2. Substitutions will be allowed only ONCE at the beginning of the 11th round.
  • Semi-final and Final Matches will be played for 25 rounds, win by 2. Substitutions will be allowed only ONCE at the beginning of the 16th round.
  • Teams will consist of 4 starters + 1 substitute player.
  • Only members of each team [4 starters + substitute player(s)] will be allowed in the servers; everyone else who wishes to spectate the match must connect via HLTV (information regarding the HTLV servers will be posted closer to the tournament date).
  • Two separate password protected vb servers will be ran at the same time to accommodate teams, spectators, and referees.

::Official VB Tournament Rules & Guidelines::

1. All C4A general & vb specific rules should be followed. Failure to do so, will result in appropriate punishment for the individual(s) and their team's disqualification.

2. All serves must be done using a single left-click while staying on the ground and the ball must cross over the net.

3. After the serve, teams will be allowed a maximum of four hits to return the ball over the net. If a team cannot hit it over the net within four hits, they must let the ball drop on their side, thereby awarding the opposing team 1 point.

4. Players can only hit the ball once before another player touches the ball.

5. The admins/referees watching over the matches will make the final call on any questionable plays. Do not disrespect the admin's/referee's decisions, otherwise appropriate punishment for the individual(s) and disqualification of their team(s) will follow.

6. Official referees for the tournament are Mr Sucky and Legacy

Prizes for the winning team:

!!Custom C4A VB Tournament Champion Mousepad for each member of the winning team

4 hits per side?

Can the same player hit it twice in a row?

4 hits per side MAXIMUM; correct. This was changed to 4 (from 3 in the previous tournament) because of the bigger map and more number of team players. I also discussed this with several active players and the general consensus was four hits per side.

EDIT: We decided to change the rule on hitting twice. Rule#4 now states explicitly: 4. Players can only hit the ball once before another player touches the ball.

Hope that helps,

I know there was talks about practice sessions before but is this confirmed?

I actually might participate in this tournament so I can make a fool out of myself when I TK every round by "accident."

A player can hit the ball twice (as in when saving a difficult shot by the opposing team), but read rule#4: Players will not be allowed to set themselves up (i.e. hit the ball once one way, then spike another way).

Hope that helps,

Should be one hit per person.
It worked when it was 3v3, now it's 4v4 it should be easier.

EDIT**

Also vb_gym_final isn't the best map to make the tourney, since there are basketball hops that effect game play, and yes it happens often.

gym is the 2nd best map there is on vb. If they aren't doing seaside, that's the best option (and I prefer it because it's not so bright). the goals don't get in the way unless your team just sucks, the ball should never make it that far 99% of the time.

I think you guys should do one where you can server however you want (without spiking of course) and as many hits per side/person as wanted. I mean, it's counter-strike volleyball...making it realistic is almost silly.

I might do it...gotta find some noobs to put me on their team so I can dominate though :P
my b-day is on the 4th, so it depends on when I go part4y.

Maybe. Eastern Orthodox Christmas is around that time and I'm not sure if my family will be getting together that day.

But I wouldn't mind making a team and getting in last place.

Just wanted to update everyone on a slight rule change.

Rule#4 now states explicitly states: 4. Players can only hit the ball once before another player touches the ball.

This was discussed and we felt it would be A LOT easier to for the referees to manage than to try allow a few double hits (saving the ball & then hitting it again).

Hope to see everyone on Saturday!

~ Mr. Sucky :)
