For those of you who have not seen Revenge of the Fallen yet, you may not know what I'm talking about. Somehow people have managed to turn the new Transformers film into a subject of controversy. Everyone is calling Michael Bay and the writers of the film racists and voicing that no one should go see this film. Saying it could corrupt the young minds out there watching.

I am referring to the two characters in the film Mudflap and Skids(also known as The Twins). From MY perspective these two characters seemed like nothing more then young "kids" who weren't really intelligent enough to comprehend most things and were simply there for comic relief.

To sum up what they seem to be referring to, I shall quote from Wikipedia.

To me, when I first heard about most of this(I was actually kind of shocked), my first thoughts were more or less geared towards the people saying this. When seeing those characters on screen and the very first thing that pops into your mind is a black person, then I think you're far more racist then the people who actually created these characters.

seriously though if someones going to get offended about the appearences and mannerisms of a cgi robot they should seek help for voicing such garbage. theres things you think about and then theres things you think about and then share.

When i saw the movie nothing about black people even popped into my head. The only thing that went through my mind was "these twins are fuckin hilarious" and that was it. I loved these two characters and yes they made the movie more enjoyable. Only those who are proud to say they are racist consider these two characters as a depiction of their hatred.

I admit I haven't seen the movie yet (let me know if its worth it), but I have to agree with you frag. I think this applies to anything now-a-days that people claim are racist. It gets to the point where you can't even mention a black person, even if you're just saying "i love black people", people will say you're being racist. I think people just enjoy claiming people are racist because its the fun thing to do...

the movie was a 2 and a half hour long excuse to blow shit up. the plot was kinda hard to follow. if you wanna see the latest and greatest explosive effects technology, see the movie.

as for the two characters, i think i remember them saying some racist stuff to the new mexican guy that tagged along with shia lebaoufgfhgf, but i didn't notice anything racist about themselves.

They are robots, come on. Put in for comedy and that alone. People reach for meaning too much.

They were both like the ghetto version of Jazz from the original movie. Both Mudflap and Skids reminded me too much of Jar Jar Binks. They both had their share of funny moments, but I thought they could have been a lot better. I even heard the gold tooth was something Bay added in the film at the very last minute.

However, I can still see why some black people would be offended by it. The same thing could be said about the Jar Jar Binks character in Star Wars. The three characters have a hint of minstrelsy...

I don't think anyone should boycott the movie because of it.

They were awesome while fighting Devastator or when they were an Ice cream truck. I think the movie would've been racist without them, then the only black guy would've been the US Soldier and people would complain this is a white movie. People always bitch no matter what. I thought the movie was amazing.

You could make the argument that Micheal Bay was using them as a bit of social commentary about how black people are portrayed in media but its Micheal Bay so I doubt he thought that much about it.
